Crispy Asian Asparagus Rolls with Shrimp & Pork Appetizer

Here's another fun way to use the easy and versatile Asian Shrimp & Pork Filling. These crispy delights are a snap to make and are great as a party appetizer or a first course.

You can use any round dumpling wrapper, but I prefer the thin, golden 'Hong Kong-style' that are often available in the frozen foods section of Asian markets.

Note: Remember to watch these carefully, as they cook very quickly.

Preparation:

Rinse the asparagus and dry well. Cut the asparagus stalks about 2 inches longer than the width of the dumpling wrappers.

Spread each wrapper with about 1 1/2 teaspoons of the filling. Place an asparagus stalk across the middle and roll up, wetting the edge of the wrapper to seal.

Heat 1/4 - 1/2 inch of oil in a deep skillet to 350 degrees. Fry the rolls in batches until lightly golden and drain well on a rack or plain paper towels. Keep the finished rolls warm in a low oven.
